How MailCheckr works

From an email address to evidence you can use.

A clear, four-part path from your first lookup to a decision—without pretending every inbox can be proven reachable.

  1. 01 / 04

    Start with an address

Check one email in the dashboard or API, or upload a CSV when you have a whole list.

  2. 02 / 04

    Screen the essentials

MailCheckr checks syntax and mail-routing records, then looks for disposable domains and role-based addresses.

  3. 03 / 04

    Look for mailbox evidence

When SMTP checking is available, a mailbox probe and catch-all check add evidence. Servers that do not give a clear answer stay unknown.

  4. 04 / 04

    Act on the result

Get a deliverable, undeliverable, risky, or unknown status with its reason. Review it in the dashboard, use the API response, or export your CSV results.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you verify.

Know what MailCheckr can tell you, where the evidence has limits, and how to use the result.

What does MailCheckr check for each email address?

It checks the address format, the domain’s mail-routing records, disposable-domain and role-account signals, and—when available—SMTP mailbox and catch-all evidence. The result includes a status and reason so you can see what informed it.

Does “deliverable” guarantee my email will reach the inbox?

No. A verification is a point-in-time assessment, not a delivery guarantee. A mailbox can change, and spam filtering, sender reputation, or recipient rules can still affect a real message.

Why might a verification return “unknown”?

Some mail servers hide mailbox information, temporarily reject probes, or do not give a clear response. MailCheckr keeps those cases unknown rather than calling an address valid or invalid without enough evidence.

Can I check a whole list instead of one address?

Yes. Upload a CSV in the dashboard to process a list, follow its progress, and export the results when you are ready.

Are the free domain tools the same as email verification?

No. The DMARC, SPF, DKIM, CNAME, MX, and DNS tools show public records for a domain. They help you inspect configuration, but they do not determine whether a specific inbox can receive mail.

Can I use MailCheckr from my own application?

Yes. Create an API key to submit verifications and receive structured results with the status, reason, and individual checks. The dashboard is also available for manual use.
